Going Green on Your Wedding Day

Are you becoming more eco-conscious? You can do little things on your wedding day to be more friendly to the environment. Follow these green wedding tips and enjoy your day.

CFL - Green WeddingHave a candlelight ceremony
Everyone knows the candlelight weddings are beautiful. Plus, you will be conserving electricity. Get married by candlelight outdoors at dusk. For your reception, if it’s indoors, be sure the facility uses CFLs. These light bulbs use less power and save tremendously in greenhouse gases.

Go local
Use local wedding vendors for organic flowers, food, wine and more. You will also save fuel because of less transportation costs for a local wedding. Arrange for carpools for your guests from the ceremony to the reception site.

Skip the wedding favors
Instead of wedding favors, make a donation in the names of your guests to an environmental charity. Be sure to leave a card on the reception tables and in the programs that you are making the donation. You don’t want your guests to think you are just cheap!
