Outdoor Wedding Tips

Outdoor weddings are beautiful. The beach, a park or anywhere outdoors can make a beautiful backdrop for you wedding day. However, you need to bear a few things in mind when planning an outdoor wedding.

Outdoor Weather

Remember that the one thing you absolutely cannot control is the weather. Of course, you should pick a date that is normally not to cold or mild, but know that bad weather can arise at anytime. Have a backup location in mind, or at the very least, large tents where your guests can run for cover.

Do whatever you can to keep your guests comfortable. Tables shaded with umbrellas, aforementioned tents, and paper fans can keep your guests cool and comfortable. Provide bug spray, sunscreen and even cheap sunglasses, if necessary. If you are having your wedding in the evening, rent heaters or tiki torches to assure your guests won’t get too cold.

Outdoor Wedding Attire

The bride and her bridemaids should wear flat shoes or chunky heels, rather than stilettos, in order not to sink in the ground or trip. A shorter wedding gown is appropriate for an outdoor wedding in the daytime. Skip the train or floor length gown, unless you have an aisle runner. Bridesmaids should have shawls or other coverups for cool evenings.

Outdoor Wedding Photography

When hiring your wedding photographer, be sure that he knows the wedding is outdoors and has vast experience in shooting in natural light. Speaking of wedding vendors, your DJ or musicians also should be familiar with the outdoor location to know if they need extra electrical outlets, lighting, speakers or anything else.
