Choosing Flower Girl Dresses

When selecting a dress for your flower girl, of course it should coordinate with the other gowns in your wedding party. However, there are some other considerations to make when picking out the right flower girl dress, in Canada.

Age Matters
If your flower girl is very young (under five years old), you should probably keep the dress design very simple. Sure, frills and petticoats are pretty, but young kids get irritated and distracted easily. Scratchy lace or a dress that’s hard to walk in won’t make things easier for the flower girl or for you. A pretty yet simple dress with an A-line skirt is your best bet.

Don’t Do Floor Length
Just because you are wearing a floor-length dress doesn’t mean your whole bridal party needs to do the same — especially the flower girl. A young flower girl will be much more likely to trip in a floor-length gown. To avoid any mishaps or falls, a tea-length or knee-length dress is a fabulous choice.

Don’t Spend a Fortune
If the dress is a style that the flower girl likely won’t wear often again, then don’t spend a bundle. This is one time that it doesn’t make sense to splurge, even if you have the budget. She’ll grow out of the dress in no time and all that money will go to waste.
